The Cineworlds<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I got it wrong last week: Minions: the Rise of Gru<\/em> doesn\u2019t start until July 1st<\/sup>. My apologies for that.  If (and it\u2019s quite a big if) I have navigated the Cineworld website successfully this week it seems like more of the same, with the only new film at Cheltenham being Jurassic World Dominion<\/a><\/em>, starting on Friday 10th<\/sup> June. This is the sixth film in the franchise and is directed by Colin Trevorrow. Cineworld Gloucester also has Vikram<\/em>,<\/a> an Indian film in Tamil, directed and written by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It is described as an action film where a special investigator discovers that the serial killer case to which he has been assigned is not quite as it appears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Roses<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Roses has one more screening of Playground<\/em>, on Monday afternoon and has three screenings of Benediction. <\/em>There are two new films: Wild Men<\/em> and Spitfire over Berlin. Spitfire over Berlin<\/a><\/em>, directed by Callum Burn, is, as you might expect, a Second World War aviation drama in which a pilot has to take an unarmed observation plane over Berlin to photograph defence installations. Wild Men<\/a><\/em>, directed by Thomas Daneskov, is a Danish comedy drama, with some violent episodes, about a middle aged man (played by Rasmus Bjerg) who abandons his family to live a hunter-gatherer life, but with his mobile phone and handy local supermarket. He joins up with a drug dealer on the run and the film becomes part thriller, part buddy movie. Sofie Grabol, of The Killing <\/em>fame, has a cameo as the man\u2019s deserted wife. Top Gun: Maverick<\/em> starts at the end of the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Guildhall<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Operation Mincemeat and Downton Abbey return briefly, but there are also two new films here. The Quiet Girl<\/a>,<\/em> directed by Colm Bair\u00e9ad, is an Irish Gaelic film which has won much acclaim on the festival circuit. It is the story of a nine year old girl sent from her large and impoverished family to live with relatives, where she flourishes. Minyan<\/a><\/em>, directed by Eric Steel and set in the 1980s is the story of a young man, David, (played by Samuel H Levine,) confined by the rules of his Russian Jewish immigrant family in New York. As he moves away and matures he is able to explore his own gay sexuality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tivoli<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Tivoli has Downton, Mincemeat, Top Gun Maverick, Everything Everywhere, Dr Strange<\/em>, and adds Men<\/em> to its programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sherborne<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Sherborne has Downton Abbey<\/em> all week, accompanied by Sonic the Hedgehog 2<\/em> and The Lost City <\/em>at the weekend. Dr Strange<\/em> appears on Friday 10th. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
